Job Description


Under direct guidance from the Network Services Manager this position is a member of a systems support team responsible for implementing, supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting the enterprise systems infrastructure.




Proactively identifies performance and operational issues using trending activities and reports.

Participates in creating and maintaining system and storage documentation.

Implements system configuration changes and validates outcomes

Identifying and responding to Information System security breaches.

Participates in recovery from an Information Systems disaster or major outage.

Configuring, implementing, maintaining, and supporting management tools.

Documenting and reporting on all IT outages and performance issues.

Troubleshooting and problem resolution

Performs problem identification, isolation, resolution, and solution documentation.

Escalates problem resolution to appropriate staff as necessary.

Development of problem incident response procedures.

Works to resolve all issues in a timely manner.

Change management

Participates in the IT change control process.

Initiates change requests and reviews with appropriate IT staff and Manager ahead of the change.

Reviews and communicates post change status and results with appropriate stakeholders.

Assures systems documentation is current, creates as needed and updates to reflect changes.

Strategic Planning and Design

Participates in evaluation, selection and integration of server and storage technologies.

Designing and integrating new systems and infrastructure components.

Creating and maintaining short and long-term systems architecture plans and strategies.

Development of disaster recovery strategy and documentation.


Promotes positive interpersonal relationships with fellow employees, physicians and patients.

Ensures confidentiality of patient information.

Has regular and predictable attendance.

Participates and responds in on-call rotation defined by management.

BS/BA preferred or comparable experience.

1-2 years implementing, supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting secure local and wide area information system networks.

Enterprise Operating Systems; Storage Area Networks; Backup and Recovery Systems; Virtual Environments; Terminal Services, Directory and Certificate Services.

Understanding of a variety of monitoring tools.


Certifications/diplomas: CompTIA (Server+, Storage+) or equivalent experience

Preferred: VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP)


Ability to assist in:

Planning and implementing; server, storage, client, and security technologies and projects.

Utilizing systems monitoring tools to log, analyze and resolve pervasive issues.

Configure and troubleshoot Enterprise systems and technologies.

Basic understanding of:

Enterprise operating systems: Performance, Patching, Audit and Analysis

Active Directory, Group Policy and related services.

Systems Management and Monitoring tools.

UNIX/AIX administration.

Backup and Recovery Systems.

Virtual Server Environments (VMware and Hyper-V).

Storage Area Networks, including connectivity options (iSCSI, CIFS, NFS and FC).

Citrix and Terminal Server environments.

Clustering and Load Balancing.

Ability to be professional, calm and collected, even in the face of serious adversity.

Good problem troubleshooting skills.

Good interpersonal, customer service, communication and presentation skills.

Ability to develop and maintain good vendor and business partner relationships.

Able to handle more than one task at a time.

Able to work in collaboration with Network and System Engineers in a team environment.
