Job Description
Position Summary:
  • An Application Engineer is a technical expert able to address complex issues with a diverse toolset. Engineers are also responsible for understanding how each of the services within our environment work together, as well as ensuring that the overall health of our applications and interfaces are maintained.
Essential Functions:
  • Essential Functions:
    • Leads process of bringing new applications and interfaces to Confluence Health.
    • Leads process of upgrading existing applications and interfaces including major version upgrades, hardware upgrades and infrastructure changes.
    • Leads process of retiring of applications and interfaces.
    • Work with Applications Analysts and vendors to isolate and resolve customer issues.
    • Provide system support for issues which cannot be resolved by solutions support staff.
    • Document FAQ’s which can be leveraged by solutions teams to address common issues.
    • Document system setup and workflows.
    • Identify, recommend, create and perform user security and maintenances standards and activities.
    • Prepare and review specifications as necessary for new and existing implementations.
    • Adhere to all IT change control processes.
    • Develop and utilize testing and communication plans.
    • Identify, communicate and work with IT and clinic staff to ensure adequate testing is accomplished prior to system implementation or enhancements.
    • Work with peer teams to deliver high availability and optimum performance for customers.
    • Utilize existing tools to provide application service level monitoring and ing.
    • Respond to s for applications and architecture which we are responsible for supporting.
    • Participate in the development and testing of internal tools, scripts and other coding projects utilizing tools such as C#, SQL, Perl and Javascript.
    • Follow programming standards defined by the IT department.
    • Utilize project management tools to document issues and status of assigned tasks.
    • Set and manage to timelines related to assigned tasks.
    • Documentation of processes involved with support duties for internal customers and end-users.
    • Adheres to Confluence Health’s Employee expectations and teamwork standards
    • Participates in on-call rotation and responds in a timely manner as defined by management.
    • Ability to attend classes/seminars and completely certifications as assigned. May require travel up to two weeks at a time.
    • Investigate significant problems (log diving, reproducing issues, bug writing and tracking) and perform simple network traces and troubleshooting.
    • Training of new employees for all company technical positions.

Qualifications:
  • Required:
    • Customer-first attitude and strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
    • 3+ years as an application engineer, application analyst, development engineer or interface engineer preferably in a healthcare setting.
    • Knowledge of health care organizations and clinic work flow
    • Exhibit extensive knowledge around company products and services.
    • Advanced level knowledge of Windows based OS and/or Linux OS.
    • Strong coding ability in of one or more of the following Java, .NET, Powershell, Javascript, HTML, XML, SQL/TSQL, JSON or HL7.
    • Ability to consult with customers and internal customers on specific issues.
    • Training of new employees for all company technical positions.
    • Recommend implementation and support strategies based on industry best practices.
    • Ability to keep professional demeanor in stressful circumstances.
    • Ability to work independently and in team environments.
    • Possess excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
    • Superior time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
