Overall Purpose of Position:
Responsible for implementing select applications of the electronic health record system (EHR) for Accountable for all aspects of planning, staffing, training, and budget monitoring for the project. Works closely with senior leaders to carry out the project vision. Ensures that a common vision, plan, and goal are communicated and maintained across all areas of the project. Acts as the primary liaison between key legacy system staff, operational leadership and the end-user community. Oversees the development of educational and training programs, and the development of reporting functionality to support system live and post live activities. Coordinates other EHR Directors to ensure a cohesive EHR deployment for the enterprise.
Work requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, healthcare, or computer-related field.
Work requires ten years of progressive IT experience to include five years of experience in leadership/management. Must be familiar with inpatient and outpatient clinical needs, finance, and understand goal- setting for the EHR project and for other initiatives.
Must maintain primary residence in the Confluence Health service area.
Once hired, applicant must meet the training requirements for Epic’s best practice recommendation. This will require attendance at a six week Epic overview and application training program in Madison, Wisconsin. Associated certification must be obtained within six months of program completion.
Oversee the development and implementation plan for designated EHR applications.
Coordinate with other EHR Directors to ensure that planning for the Enterprise, Ambulatory and Revenue Cycle applications are aligned.
Ensure the infrastructure, historical data conversions, Interfaces, training and customization of the model systems are implemented. Manage project scope, cost, schedule and quality.
Coordinate all project activities: Software and hardware, business and IT related tasks, and internal communications and change management.
Set proper expectations for all members of the community
Review the progress of the project regularly with vendor EHR Coordinator and Implementation Manager.
Coordinate the Organizations’ overall needs with Vendor EHR implementation Coordinator
Keep leadership apprised of project progress and issues
Provide direct supervision for assigned Application Managers and their teams. Oversee various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, work assignments, performance Appraisals, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
Oversee and guide the development of internal and external training programs to ensure the new personnel are oriented to departmental procedure and those personnel within the department unit are informed concerning changing information systems technologies.
Monitor the documentation, resolution and completion of identifies deployment issues and tasks to the overall project timeline.
Ensure that teams hold development and production support meetings, reviews and design sessions with internal and EHR teams to support project development.
Monitor the analysis of operational and end user department workflows, interfaces, data collection, report details and other technical issues associated with EHR software as they relate to the systems design and build decisions. Including design input for EHR optimized systems and/or enhancements.
Monitor the build, test, debug activities for the EHR applications to ensure the system meets the operational and end user requirements.
Design and adhere to the organizational policies and procedures and follow all change control processes for the EHR application(s).
Ensure alignment of systems design and services throughout the continuum of care and revenue cycle.
Maintain liaison with identified EHR resources, professionals organizations and information systems management with similar organizations to ensure utilization of current principles, techniques and policies.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
