Confluence Health was pleased to host Governor Jay Inslee as he toured Confluence Health Hospital | Central Campus’s “Medical Unit 1”. Medical Unit 1 has 10 beds to treat medical patients with mental health, dementia, and other related diagnoses. The unit uses specially trained staff, and serves to provide a safer environment for our most vulnerable patients.

Governor Inslee’s visit was part of a larger tour of North Central Washington focusing on the mental health needs of our communities.

Confluence Health Chief Nursing Officer Tracey Kasnic said “We were really honored to have Governor Inslee take the time to tour MU1, which he thought was an innovative approach to community based care. Inslee acknowledges we need to build a new mental health system and thinks Confluence Health can contribute toward that endeavor from both an inpatient and outpatient perspective.”

Confluence Health CEO Peter Rutherford, MD, said, “I am very proud of the physicians and staff at Confluence Health for their efforts to identify barriers that patients have to reaching their best possible health, and then working to remove those barriers. This mental health work will help all of us, from the providers and staff to patients and their families.”
