Job Description

OVERALL PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Allocating financial resources is vital to the health of every business. The Budget Analyst I helps reach objectives by analyzing, testing and implementing requirements and changes to business processes, policies and information systems. Duties often include developing budgets and forecasting financial needs, as well as processing and validating data within the budget information system. Other duties may include tracking, monitoring and analyzing data to ensure proper allocation, and reconciling and resolving data discrepancies.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Review proposed budget submissions from department managers for accuracy and completeness

Examine whether budget submissions can be achieved based on known capacity constraints and inform management of potential problem areas

Propose enhancements to the budget model

Examine capital budget requests

Coordinate capital budgeting approvals

Review the budget model for calculation errors

Update the budget model as requested to account for significant changes in the business environment

Analyzes current and past spending patterns and forecasts revenue in order to make recommendations

Produce periodic and ad hoc revenue and expense reports as needed

Provides additional support for special projects as needed

Provides technical assistance to staff in departments engaged in the preparation of the budget

Develop a budgeting policies and procedures manual

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree, preferably related to business or accounting or

Associate degree with comparable professional experience

5+ years professional experience related to accounting or budgeting

LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:

Ability to attend classes/seminars and complete certification(s) as assigned.

May require occasional travel

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Knowledge of health care organizations and clinic work flow, preferred

2. Detail oriented, organized team player with strong ability to understand and document processes

3. Ability to manage multiple projects in fast-paced environment with a strong sense of meeting deadlines and follow-up essential.

4. Intermediate understanding of general accounting principles

5. Recommend implementation and support strategies based on industry best practices

6. Ability to keep professional demeanor in stressful circumstances

7. Possess excellent oral, written and presentation skills

8. Ability to identify key users/staff and development strong working relationships
