Visitas anuales de bienestar

A Medicare annual wellness visit (AWV) is a yearly conversation-based with your doctor or provider to create, or update, a personalized prevention plan, focusing on long-term health. While Medicare does not cover a routine physical exam, the AWV contains elements that are similar to a check-up or physical.

Your health care provider will ask you to fill out a questionnaire, called a “Health Risk Assessment,” as part of this visit. Answering the questions can help you and your doctor develop or update a personalized prevention plan to help you stay healthy and get the most out of your visit.

During the Annual Wellness Visit

Take routine measurements like height, weight, and blood pressure.
Review your medical and family history.
Review your current prescriptions.
Discuss future medical treatment wishes and advance directives.
Perform cognitive assessment.

Cualquier beneficiario de Medicare que:

Medicare cubrirá una visita de bienestar anual una vez cada 12 meses. Los afiliados a Medicare Advantage pueden tener plazos ligeramente diferentes (por ejemplo, se cubre una vez por año natural).

You pay nothing if your provider accepts assignment. The Medicare Part B deductible does not apply. However, you may have to pay coinsurance, and the Part B deductible may apply if your provider performs additional tests or services during the same visit not covered by this preventive benefit.

You should bring your completed Health Risk Assessment, and a complete list of your medications (including vitamins and over-the-counter drugs) or all your medication bottles for the doctor to review.
