Financial Assistance
We believe everyone in our community deserves quality care, no matter what they can afford. If you’re worried about the cost of your care, we’re here to help. Confluence Health offers financial assistance to patients who qualify, and our team can walk you through your options, answer your questions, and help you apply. You don’t have to figure it out alone, and you should never put off the care you need because of cost. Reach out to us, and we’ll find a path forward together.
Charity Care
Charity care is our main financial assistance program. If you don’t have insurance, or your insurance doesn’t cover everything, charity care may pay for some or all of your Confluence Health bill. Whether you qualify depends on your household size and income (many working families do). Applying is free, and you can apply before your visit, after you get a bill, or any time in between.
Additional Program Information
- Approval lasts six months. After that, you will need to reapply so we can make sure you are still getting the right level of help.
- We will ask about other resources first, like Medicaid or other coverage you may be eligible for. If you qualify for one of those programs, we will help you apply.
- Charity care covers medically necessary care, but it doesn’t cover cosmetic services.
- Household income is defined as a group of two or more people related by birth marriage or adoption who live together.
- *Income limits are based on federal guidelines and updated once a year, so the amount you qualify for may change. To learn more please visit the Federal Poverty Guidelines here.
Final Determination
The application must be filled our in its entirety and returned within 30 days. Confluence Health will notify the applicant of its final determination within fourteen (14) days of receipt of the application and all documentation material. A patient may appeal the discount amount awarded or a denial of eligibility for Charity Care by providing additional verification of income or family size to the Charity Care program within thirty (30) days of receipt of notification.
Figuring out health insurance and financial help can be confusing, and you don’t have to do it alone. Our coverage and resource counselors help people find the right coverage and apply for programs that lower the cost of care. The service is free, available by phone or in person, and open to anyone in our community, whether or not you’re a patient of Confluence Health.
