WHAT IS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH?
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an annual observance held throughout the Month of October. It is intended to raise awareness of breast cancer, the most common cancer in women of all races & ethnicities, and to fundraise for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship and cure (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2017). In 2014, over 236,000 women and over 2,100 men were diagnosed with breast cancer (CDC, 2017). October is also an opportunity to support those affected by breast cancer. Breast Cancer Awareness Month begins on October 1 and ends on October 31.
