Washington State House Bill 1272

Beginning January 1, 2023, Confluence Health will take additional steps to improve our quality of care by ensuring that we have accurate information about our patients. Not only will this help us to continue delivering high quality, compassionate care to everyone, but it is also required by a new law in the state of Washington.

House Bill 1272 requires hospitals in Washington to improve health system transparency by reporting patients’ race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, preferred language, and disabilities. As of January 1, 2023, Confluence Health will offer its patients an opportunity to enter this information at their convenience through their private, secure MyChart accounts or via a paper form at their doctor’s office. Please note that patients sharing this information is both optional and confidential other than providing this information to the Washington State Department of Health as required by HB 1272.

Having robust patient information will help Confluence Health achieve health equity, which is the highest level of health for all people, and it will allow us to continue to provide excellent patient care to the people of North Central Washington.

You can enter this information privately on your own by logging in to your MyChart account and navigating to the Personal Information Tab (located under Account Settings). Sharing this information is both optional and protected under HIPAA.
