Hospital Room

About Your Hospital Room

All of Central Campus rooms in our six-story patient tower are spacious, private and quiet. Most feature lovely views of the surrounding area. All include a spacious visitor area with a sofa that converts to a sleeping area for a loved one to stay overnight.

The section below will provide you with additional information to make your stay more comfortable.

Hospital Beds

Most hospital beds are electronically operated for your comfort and convenience. Special mattresses are also provided for your comfort. Your nurse can help you understand all of the functions of your bed and answer any questions you might have.

Calling for Your Nurse

Your nurse will explain how to use any nurse call buttons in your room or bathroom. The nurse call system in the patient room includes buttons to help communicate your need to our nursing staff. Each button turns on a light above the door to your room and rings on staff phones or at the business center. One of our staff will respond to your call as soon as possible.

Room Temperature

All patient rooms in the new tower have individual temperature controls. If the temperature is uncomfortable in your room, or you need assistance with the temperature controls, notify your nurse or nursing assistant.

Telephones

Telephones are provided in most patient rooms. For local calls, dial 9 and then the number. If you need assistance, call the operator by dialing 0.
For long distance calls, follow these instructions: dial 70 and wait for a dial tone. Dial 0, the area code, and the telephone number. An operator will ask you how you plan to pay for the call. You may use a calling card, call collect, or charge your call to your home phone. For calling card calls, dial 9 and then the toll-free number. Long distance calls cannot be charged to your hospital room.
If you would like to rest and not be disturbed, tell your nurse. Your calls will be diverted to the business center.

Television

Flat-screen televisions with DVD players are provided for each patient in the tower. The channel and volume controls are located on your nurse call button at the bedside. Your nurse will explain how to use them.

Meals

Proper nutrition is an important part of your care. Room Service is available to patients who have been cleared by their doctor. You will receive a menu tailored to the type of diet ordered by your physician. Registered dietitians are available to discuss any special dietary restrictions. Additionally, a variety of snacks and beverages allowed on your diet are available upon request.
